DEFENCE

This industry is one of the largest users of drones and is a proving ground for new technologies. Drone systems augment existing military capabilities, reduce costs, reduce operating risks for humans and enable soldiers to be redeployed to the tasks that only they can do.

monitor, identify, respond »

Drones help armed forces monitor the environment with real-time video feeds, improve communications, assess risks and respond to threats. The primary applications include conducting intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) activities, identifying security challenges, identifying and tracking targets, strike missions, acting as decoys, the suppression of enemy air defences and communication systems and for combat search and rescue (CSAR).

They are particularly useful in difficult or dangerous environments. As technology improves, there will be an increased use of drones for battlefield logistics. It is estimated that by 2030, up to 80% of military air capability could be remotely piloted or autonomous unmanned vehicles.

ISS Aerospace is at the forefront of developing and integrating the technologies that will shape the future of this industry.

We have been working with the UK MOD on autonomous drones for ISR applications for Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) missions. In addition, we have been working with technology partners on kinetic weapon systems and drone suppression systems. We are enhancing our heavy-lift capabilities by employing and integrating different payloads, we can produce drones for specific applications. These include Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) detection and bathymetric surveying of rivers for tactical purposes. Please contact us for more information on our defence applications.
